The Mental Health Committee
The Mental Health Committee exists to promote continuing education and networking among mental health professionals working in Singapore. Its membership is primarily comprised of professionals servicing the expatriate community in Singapore. This committee meets on a regular basis to discuss current trends, share resources, and promote ethical practices.
The Counselling Network
The Counseling Network is an all volunteer group comprised of mental health professionals and school counselors. There are several purposes of the group including to share information and resources on adolescent issues, and to allow for the networking of school personnel such matters. The Counseling Network meets regularly to network and discuss issues prevalent in schools, and to identify resources and solutions.
Crisis Response Network
The purpose of the Crisis Response Network is to bring together individuals (local and expatriate) interested in responding to the emotional aftermath of community wide crisis and disaster. The Crisis Response Network meets regularly to learn about other organizations in Singapore and the region; learn about innovations in the field of crisis response; and share information on upcoming trainings.
Crisis Response Team
The Crisis Response Team will be developed in 2007 from participants of the Crisis Response Network. This team will be available for deployment, as formally requested, to local crisis/disasters within the region.
Adoption Support Group
The Adoption Support Group meets monthly. It is comprised of those who are considering adoption, in the process of adopting, or have adoptive children. A SACAC staff member is present, but acts as a facilitator only, as the group is essentially a support group. Attendees determine what shape the format will take. Members are able to share their experiences, bring questions and guide others along the path of adoption. Attendees are notified of upcoming meetings by email.
SACAC Health Library
The SACAC Counseling and Community Programs office holds its own library of books that can be checked out for a short period of time. Book topics range from mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety or substance abuse to topics related to healthy lifestyles, focusing on parenting, pregnancy, or living abroad. Over 500 titles are available, with many new books recently added to the library.
